These scissor clips are not as safe as panic clips, but with their top opening they are safer than dog clips while retaining security. I would prefer to know what grade stainless steel they are. They are probably not 316 marine grade stainless, but look and feel as good as 304 grade.
Contrary to the description, only one side of the clip opens. The other side is static. The max opening is not quite 1cm.
Mine are solid, compact clips with a free moving swivel and good sized thumb tab. The spring is strong, so might be a problem for someone with arthritis, etc. For their size they are heavy. I wouldn't like to add this weight to a bit when using a loose rein.
They are not silent clips, as the moving parts rattle. No rough edges. Polish is nice and smooth.
